As per the Gulf News Article http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/government/1-5m-id-cards-distributed-in-six-months-1.868655, the EIDA cards which were not picked up by the applicants would be discarded, I was finally motivated to head to the EIDA center.
I got the notification via SMS long back (4 months atleast) http://readytechgo.blogspot.com/2011/09/eida-card-renewal.html.
The SMS I received mentioned the MUSAFFAH POST OFFICE branch (See post location for map), which I reached at 6pm, hoping to avoid the daily rush. To my surprise, I was wrong, see the picture below.
People were waiting the queue to begin since 4pm. Anyway I got in and after ~30 minutes reached inside.
Within 5 more minutes, I was holding the new card. Im glad my card wasnt discarded !!
The process is very simple, just take with you; the SMS (probably on your mobile phone) and the form that you received from the Typing Office. They take your sign and handover the card.
